Drug queenpin Griselda Blanco, known as the "Godmother of Cocaine," ruled over Miami's underworld in the 1970s and 1980s with an iron fist. After serving her time, Blanco was released from prison in 2004 and deported to Colombia. There, she lived for eight years before her brutal assassination. Her life and crimes have since been immortalized in Netflix's series Griselda, which debuted in 2024.

Despite her notoriety, Bruce Bagley warns against romanticizing Blanco's criminal career. While she may have been a pioneer as a female entrepreneur in the drug trade, her legacy is one of cold-heartedness and brutality.
